Best Bag Trends From SS’19 Runway

Best Bag Trends From SS’19 Runway
Wednesday 3 October 2018

Now that Paris Fashion Week has completed the four week run of fashion shows around the world, it’s time to take in all the latest and greatest trends that caught our eye.  Essentially there will always be the “classics” that are seen redundantly every year; however, this SS ‘19 brought some stunning new concepts to the handbag category. Designers are experimenting with different placements and questioning the abilities of carrying their products.  Here are a few of our favorite trends to consider.

Dries Van Noten has always been a brand known for bold risks in structuring products, and the latest show was no exception.  The models walked down the runway accessorized with handbags consisting of shoe laces. Claudia Li’s collection also featured this material in her show, but besides being a detail of the bags the laces made the straps of each crossbody.  The laces were woven together in a braided fashion, creating a intricate and intriguing appearance.

This trend has only roughly seen the light of day this last year, but you can expect to see it in full effect next S/S.  Some are a little lenient to choose a bag that is entirely clear, revealing all of their belongings inside. Although, the idea of exploiting your essentials gives some confidence and endearment to show all of oneself.  This trend may even help narrow down what you bring with you instead of having an oversized bag stuffed with that old Starbucks receipt or miscellaneous knick knacks that aren’t even useful anymore.

One of the most dramatic trends that were consistent on the runways was small pouches worn around the models’ necks.  The thought of having your hands free is honestly quite relieving. You may catch a few odd stares at first, but we can see this new trend catching on over time.  Say goodbye to forgetting your purse at a restaurant when hurrying back to work!

Gabriela Hearst SS19

The classic clutch is now being converted into a drop down small bag.  WIth one single short strap, a circular formed bag is attached. Duchess Meghan Markle made an appearance just the other day where she was accessorized with this style of bag.  The construction of these bags are dainty and perfect for a night out.

Next time you hit the shops keep in mind some of these trends.  Try some out or forget about a few that are not for you, either way they are fun and can add some risk to your outfit.
