The beginning of a new year also marks the time for new award winners to take the stage at the highly anticipated Golden Globes and its sister annual show, the Oscars. The Golden Globes took place this last Sunday, Jan. 6, and it did not disappoint. In comparison to last year’s show, the atmosphere was more uplifting with wild and diversified fashion. Around this time in 2018 the #Metoo movement was trending across social media, inspiring many to wear all black gowns to promote the cause and make a stance. 2019’s Globes brought in an array of dramatic and vibrant gowns to the red carpet. Lady Gaga, nominated for Best Motion Picture Actress, stole the show with her voluminous baby blue Valentino dress.
Co-hosts Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh wanted to keep the mood more light and just have fun with their monologues. However, that did not stop many female winners and nominees sneaking in a second to voice their ideas for change in the Entertainment Industry. The over-two-hour program presented lots of twists and turns as the winners amongst the nominees were announced. When the nominations were publicly announced a while back, A Star Is Born, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Vice were on the top of the hotlist for predicted winners. The revelations from the opened winning envelopes proved that predictions doesn’t always guarantee a trophy in hand. Here are the big winners from last night’s Golden Globes in case you missed it.
