Today, November 8th, the much anticipated Moschino x H&M collection was released, and fans came pouring into the stores to snatch up their favorites from the partnership. Lines of awaiting shoppers were stretched around the brick and mortar stores, leaving much of the stock in limited supply once the doors opened. Moschino’s creative director Jeremy Scott has acquired his loyal following due to his definitely outspoken demeanor and design aesthetic. Widely known for his playful prints that leans on pop cultural references, it can be said that he is the “Andy Warhol” of fashion.
The featured products were initially revealed during the Spring 2019 Ready-To-Wear runway shows last month. The rather monochromatic black and gold hues prevailed as staples throughout the collection. Jeremy Scott, however, did stay true to his brand and accompanied the mature tones with fun patterns, loud graphics, and plastered graphics. As the show pursued, a group of looks featuring Mickey Mouse and Disney references skirted down the catwalk. Besides partnering up with H&M, Moschino contributed a limited capsule of products to celebrate Mickey Mouse’s 90th Birthday.
Moschino’s fashion house is known for its quality in fabric and lavish embellishments, and that led to one of the biggest challenges to overcome when taking on this project with H&M. Yet Jeremy Scott had little fear establishing a successful collection, especially because his design concepts are majorly influenced by going against the status quo. Moschino’s products are worn in a versatile manner, in both high and low culture, solely because the brand has pushed the limits from the very beginning.
Moschino is now the 14th brand to partner with H&M, following some other well known names such as Balmain, Karl Lagerfeld, and Kenzo. Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Creative Adviser, proudly commented on the lasted featured designer, “He’s been on our list for so long. We need something as fun and fierce and playful and glamorous as Jeremy Scott for Moschino.”
For the launch of the collaboration many celebrities like Ariel Winter stepped out to help rally around this much loved brand. Bebe Rexha rocked a head to toe look from the Moschino x H&M collection at the MTV EMAs this past weekend which also spiked interest for the release. While many products have been picked over, there may be just your size available in your favorite product. Check out some of the products from the Moschino x H&M lookbook below.
