Every morning is very stressful so I don’t always have time to make a huge breakfast, I am sure you all recognize this. As a result, I start getting hungry at 10 am. Until someone asked me why I don’t eat granola as breakfast. Honestly, I thought something this healthy wouldn’t be fulfilling at all. Guess what? I was wrong!
For those of you who don’t know what granola is, it is a mixture of roasted oatmeal, nuts and seeds. The fact that you roast everything, makes it crispy and very tasty.
I really feel like a little girl every time I make granola. It’s so easy to make! Too bad that I can’t share it’s delicious smell with you!!
OK enough about how awesome granola is! Now it’s time for the real thing..
The basic recipe:
- 450 g oatmeal
- 200 g almonds
- 200 g hazelnut
- 100 g coconut shavings
- 50 g sesame seeds
- 75 g peanuts (unsalted)
- ½ vanilla pod
Mix everything in a big bowl !
Add a personal touch :
- Add 3 tbsp liquid: this can be anything (water, fruit juice, Apple juice, coffee, etc.)
- 3 tbsp butter/vegetable oil/coconut oil
- 3 tbsp honey/Agave/brown sugar/maple syrup
- Dried fruits
- 50 g nuts, seeds of your choice
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
Mix everything and preheat the oven to 150 degrees.
We’re almost there.. Once you have mixed everything, you put everything in the oven for 30 minutes. Stir frequently until the nuts look crisp & brown. This granola can be kept in an airtight container in a cool and dry place for up to two weeks. Do not hesitate to make large portions!
Add some fruit, yogurt or honey for breakfast and you are ready to start your day!
